Day 20 - Fitting Front Wheel Bearings & Hubs

I give up with the ally hubs, so I refurbished the old cast iron Cortina hubs. I scrubbed the muck off in a bowl of petrol using a wire brush. I burned the residue off with a blow torch,cleaned with alcohol, painted them completely with zinc-182 before finishing in satin black and three layers of laquer. They neded a couple of weeks to set. I couldn't wait for the second hub to dry in time so it went in the oven on the lowest setting, followed by a final coat of laquer as it went opaque!

The bearings were replaced and tapped in with a large punch. This was a bit time consuming but fairly easy. Reconditioned as good as new!
